Transmission mystery!!

Hi everyone,

First of all, I have a 1990 V6 LE automatic Camry. The problem I have been experiencing is with my transmission at around 1500-1600 RPM. At this speed it starts to jump around like its quickly switching gears up and down ( it makes the car buck). I either have to be at a slightly higher RPM or slightly lower. Unfortunately it seems to want to drive around the city at 1500 RPM all the time, so I'm either speeding or driving Mrs. Daisy. Any help with what this could be would be great. I've had the transmission fluid changes since I bought the car about a month ago. Is my tranny going bad or is this some type of computer problem??
Thanks everyone!

My co-worker's 90 wagon had this problem before tranny failure but I do not know all the details.
On my car the engine was cutting off/on in similar manner due to bad connection on ECU connector

Does the behavior change when you are on the gas (cruising), off the gas, or on the brakes?

I assume you mean it bucks when you are just cruising?

Hi You could have weak or soft mounts. They can cause bucking.

Lockup clutch

This could be the lockup clutch shuttering. Take the car out of O/D and see if it still happens.
