Second Gen Headlight wiring issue

Hey Everyone,

Just signed onto this site.....looking forward to sharing and learning a wealth of knowledge.

As you may or may not know, '90 Camry's don't have day time running lights.....so the previous owner of my car must have got the heads lights and rear running lights re-wired to always turn on when the car is running. So basically, all my exterior lights are always on when the key is turned/car is running.... The headlight switch on my steering column doesn't do anything really except to allow the high beams to be turned on.

I want to re-wire this so that the headlights and rear running lights work only off of the main headlight switch as it was meant to do during manufacturing of the car I guess.....I do a lot of driving, day and night, so I'm going through bulbs like crazy!!!! And really all these lights don't need to be on when not needed.

Any help or questions would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

i would ask the previous owner how they did it if at all possible because only they really know how it was done and would make for a easier fix then having some one from the internet who can inspect the car their selves.

good luck

There are many places and ways to do what you are describing... There is no way for us to figure out how it was done.

Check near/under the fuse box in the engine bay and the wiring under the dash to see if you can see anything that looks like it was modified. Post pictures and I/we can probably help from there.
