1988 Jap built base model 5spd manual CV shaft question

I have a 1988 Japanese built Camry with the 5 speed manual transmission and 3SFE 4 cylinder 2.0L DOHC. The driver side CV shaft is destroyed although still drivable for a short time. I went and got a new CV shaft from the parts store after doing the research and the CV shaft that I got is the spline in snapring type. The kind that is on the car is bolt on companion flange type BUT when I grab the shaft where the shaft bolts onto the companion flange there is a very unnatural amount of play from the companion flange into the transmission which makes me wonder if the previous owner didn't go off and grab the companion flange and bolt on shaft from the junkyard and just shove it in there. I've been searching this website as long as others and even have a Chilton's manual here and nowhere can I find any information about manual transmission cars that have the bolt on type CV shafts. Can anyone give me a definite answer on whether or not the shaft actually on the car is correct or just another case of previous owner idiocy? If its the wrong shaft just shoved in there then it has been there for a while and I'm sure the splines in the transmission are surely destroyed but I have access to a spare that I can put in if this is the case. So basically just asking if any 4cyl 5spd cars came with the bolt on flanges or if they were all SUPPOSED to be the spline in snap ring type. Thanks in advance.

Are bolted flanges like this (look at the very top)?

If so, then it should be right. My Aussie Camry has bolted flanges and it should be pretty close to the Jap spec (aside extras and options).

Yeah its like that but its on the driver side and the flange that it bolts onto has ALOT of play going into the transmission. I'll go outside and get a picture of it real quick....

Sorry for the substandard pictures but it was the best I could get with a flashlight and a blackberry without putting my car on a lift (which I may do later tonight). If I grab onto that flange I can wiggle the whole thing a half inch in either direction and it is leaking gear oil from the transmission.

I just looked up parts and the only driver side CV shafts that I can find that have the bolt on flange are for automatic transmissions..... I can find NO bolt on CV shafts for the driver side that are bolt on and manual trans.
