I am likely about to purchase the car seen in the title. It's incredibly clean, about 115k, has the sun roof and power everything, owner says there's not a thing wrong with it.
My questions begin here. I have been googling and searching this forum and others for a while now, so I'm not wandering in completely unprepared. I'd like to do some modding on this car. Just how much, or what, not sure. Nothing pinned down yet. We shall see.
I have really light experience with car modding, mostly via observation of friends of mine. I'd like to ask some general knowledge stuff such as :
• I know that intake / exhaust / headers are the most basic of basic performance hierarchy. I'd like perhaps to start there. Does ANYONE make/supply parts like these for gen-2 v6 Camrys? I know that it's going to be harder and require more creativity to mod a car like this than it would be something more mainstream. I am ready to accept this challenge, I just need some background info. Specifics are nice too.
• Here's a completely bizarre specific question. I'm kind of obsessed with the idea of rear-window louvers. I find it to be an incredibly sexy (and different) look. I know for a fact (thank you wikipedia) that the Australian 91-92 Executive Sedans had them as an option at least (
picture here). I have done some minor poking around, louvers are such a bizarre part, especially on a relatively obscure car like this. I managed to find these :
1988-1992 Corolla Louvers, does anyone know if the back window of the Corolla and Gen-2 Camry are the same size? I highly doubt it but it's worth asking I suppose. If anyone knows about people custom making / fitting louvers, let me know that as well.
To wrap up, I drove a 90 Corolla for years. I'm in love with that body type. I just want something with a bit more punch and class. And now that I'm older and financially stable, I want to look into customization. I am a total noob though. Learn me, o' ye Toyota gods.
P.S. - If I buy this car and go through with the modifications and whatnot, I'll be posting plenty of high res pictures in this thread.
