Brake light and fuel line

Hello,
I'm having some problems with my '88 Camry sedan. First of all, I have noticed that when making a hard stop, the brake light comes on. But once I let up off the brake pedal, it goes off.

Also, my car has developed a gas leak in the gas line. I haven't looked to see the exact location of the leak but it seems to be coming from the area by the left side (drivers door). My question: When replacing the fuel line, what all needs to be replaced? Would it be better to have a professional mechanic do it, or is this something that my dad and I can do on a Sunday?

With gas getting closer to $3.00/gal, I need to either get the Camry fixed or sell it and focus on making my Explorer more fuel efficient.

Thanks!

1. Check the brake fluid in the brake master cylinder. This usually happens when the fluid get's near the MIN line. If low, fill it up to the MAX line. This will solve the problem with the light, but be aware when this happens it usually means the front brake pads and/or rear brake shoes have worn down significantly. Check them yourself or have them checked soon.

2. As far as the gas leak, STOP DRIVING THE CAR until the area of the leak is located and fixed. Leaking gas is extremely dangerous. You need to locate the source of the leak yourself to determine if it's something you and your dad can fix yourself. If it's a leak in one of the metal lines, you can cut out that portion and install a rubber line and clamps as a fix. Just be sure the rubber line you use is approved for use as a gas line. Not all rubber tubing is approved for use as gas line. You need to ask specifically for gas line tubing at the auto parts store.

2nd Generation Charcoal Canister?

STOP DRIVING THE CAR.
I have seen a flooded charcoal canister do this.

There is an overflow tube coming from it that ends in the crossmember support below the fire wall under car.

Maybe a place to start?
