The cold-start injector is located on the intake manifold. It has a two-pin connector (one black wire, one green wire) and a banjo fitting with a fuel line that goes to the fuel rail.
The cold-start injector time swith is located on the water outlet neck of the motor (just above the transmission). It should be red/brown (I think?) also with a two wire connector with a black wire and green wire.
The switch is supposed to supply power (actually, a ground) to the cold start injector only during startup and when the motor is cold. This can be anywhere from a few seconds (warm/hot start) to a few minutes (below freezing start).
If the cold start injector sprays fuel on a warm motor, it would cause poor running like you described. Unplugging the cold start injector (or time switch) will make starting harder, especially on a cold motor, but may lead you to solving the problem.
There is a chance the problem is in the ignition system too (plugs, wires/cap, rotor or coil).
