rear passenger door inside handle doesnt open

On the rear passenger door, the inside handle won't open the door, but the outside handle opens the door just fine. The inside handle can be pulled, but doesn't seem to engage anything.
It has been a few years since I've had the door panels off and don't remember where all those plastic connectors are at or even what the inside looked like.

Any suggestions or experience with the easiest way to get the panel off and what the issue could be preventing the inside handle from opening the door but the outside handle working just fine?

Check to see that the child proof lock system lever is not activated. It's on the part of the door between the inside and outside. If it is activated, you will get a condition like what you described.

wow, that better not be the case...i'll double check and post back.

If it isn't the child lock, the metal rod that connects the inner handle to the latch may have come loose. Just unscrew the handle, pull it out and check.
