Central locking - act mounting

Hey guys,

I'm in the process of installing central locking to my car and have hit a little speed bump - i don't know where to mount the actuator on the rear doors.

As you can see in the picture below, i tried mounting it one of the gaps (where the door has been cut a little so the act clears it) but i soon found out that i can't wind the window up or down if i put it there (as you can see in the pic).

Can't put it in the gap closest to the rear of the car because i can't mount it (act won't move freely -hits door handle mech) nor the gap closest to the hinge - window winding mechanism gets in the way. This is with the piston facing toward the rear of the car (as illustrated with the little red drawing in the bottom corner). Can't mount it anywhere else along there because the door trim sits flat against it, so that leaves the arm rest. I have tried it but can't do it without beating some bits flat

I just thought about reversing the colour of the wires to 'reverse' the action of the piston (haven't tested though). So if you could think of a way with the piston facing the the front of the car, that may work.

Can someone please tell me where to mount it or where the factory actuators are mounted?

Any help is appreciated

i doubt it, but if my rear door has a more serious problem when i take my car out this weekend i might be adventurous enough to take the door cover off.

i did some searching, let me know if this helps, in the body.pdf manual, page 11 of the PDF document. it shows the rear door with power door lock and w/o power door lock. it looks like it is installed in the actual shape of the letter "L" with the top of the "L" slightly tilted backwards?

Thanks, it helps

I've mounted the front actuators in a similar position to factory but the (factory) door lock solenoids are different to universal actuators. I need to run the acts. parallel to the 'lock rod'. Seems as though the factory ones directly connects to the linkage plate of the locking mechanism.

Door covers are easy, just make sure you don't ruin those retainers. I messed up about 1/2 of them by ripped the hole it's slipped into on the cardboard backing of the door trim but it's still good. Trick is to pull it at an angle up and away from the door (so towards your head). Be firm but not rough.
