1st & 2nd Generation (1983–1986 & 1987-1991)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1983-1986 & 1987-1991.
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
It is nice car, but the seller is asking too much.
The seller reduced the bidding price to $5,999.00.
Before they started the bidding at $6,999.00 and had a buy it now option for $7,500.00 and had no bites. Will see if it sells at the new lower price.
I wonder what the disadvantages are of buying a 27 year old car with such low mileage?

JOET/CAMRY
Disadvantages would be all the rubber is probably brittle, maybe some rust in the engine, etc.
the condition of that car is amazing but the seller is on crack if he thinks he is going to get that much for it. It dose bring back memory's my first car was a 1985 Camry LE

Yea. I still have my '85 DLX. It has seen better days...especially with rust. Tryin to still keep it though.
I would love to have a Gen1 with that color. Thing is, there are none on this island that would be rust free. hhahaha
haha True dat. Nothing in Hawaii stays rust free, NOTHING.

That has the ugly brown/tan interior though. Seller needs to cut that price in half.

Somebody has Gen1 ('83 or '84) with that same setup on this island (LE + beige interior/black). Seen it around HCC and in mililani. Has everything except sunroof and that same color. I think it was most likey shipped from the mainland as it has plates starting with 'R', which is reg'ed sometime this year of 2010. I can't see any visable rust AND it is like show room shine.

Glad to see your around still. Got a Corolla? Been doing great, have not worked too much on my Gen1...school + work = almost no free time. Finally starting to put some of my money (that I saved) on my cars, but the Camry might just be a bit of a lost cause (rust). Still gonna try get it fixed up though haha.

Yeah, still lurking! Got the Corolla in Dec. and am currently in San Antonio at the truck plant for a few months, getting the Taco equipment installed from NUMMI. Still got the Cressida?

I would still try to fix your 1st gen up man, there aren't too many of those on the road (I've never seen one on my island). Do you have any pictures of how bad the rust is?
