Paint Camry Back Bumper

Hi guys I have a brand new Camry back bumper i bought for $55 and I would like to paint it and put it on myself. The back bumper is plastic, my car is grey and the bumper is black. Is there a special paint I have to buy? I tried the Dupli Colour anddd it peeled right off
1st I have to use primer?
2nd I apply the paint?
3rd I apply clear coat?

Also does anyone know how to take off the back bumper so I can put on the new one? Help is greatly appreciated.

Do you want a really good match to the rest of your car's paint? Is your front bumper factory painted?

If so...

You may or may not need to scuff the plastic (scotch pad or sandpaper). After that, use a plastic adhesion promotor, then a flexible primer then a few layers of the color coat with flex agent then a few layers of flexible clear coat.

Unless you have access to a spray gun and booth you will have imperfections and color variations.

You can get the paint from paintscratch.com (very good color matching!) or similar sites. It won't be cheap to do it right ($100+ just in materials).

a little 2 cents on the back bumper. i bought new bumper covers cuz the originals were black, car is blue and they had been weather and were all wrinkled. had them painted and installed, looked pretty good until i moved to nyc. seems the paint and bumper combination doesn't flex well! paint is chipping off and its not very old

on takin the back bumper off, i havent ever done it but i saw it partly done and the only part i remember is the many bolts on the underside of the back bumper...hopefully thats a start! good luck!
