Running lean

Hey guys,

I changed my spark plugs on the Camry(gen2) and the old ones were white, indicating the engine is running lean. I know i can open up the AFM and trick the computer so that it runs richer by adjusting the cog, but is there anything wrong with running lean? Will i have lost power when running lean?

Car in question is a 1990 Camry m/t with 316k km's on the clock. I've put a pod filter on it and it's sitting in the engine bay, so not a CAI.

Actually, when you adjust the AFM according the thread on here, you lean the motor out, not richen it... generally leaner is better (until you blow the motor) for power.

Too lean and you could burn a valve.
