Pcv?

Got a SV21 JDM Lumiere;

Am i correct to assume this is the PCV valve this hose is routed to the intake from?

If so, i think i recall in school they said that if you put ur finger over that port on the valve cover, you should feel a suction. I tried and i'm not feeling any. Is this very bad? Could it have led to my engine crank seal that went recently that i've just replaced ?

PCV valve is to vent out the crankcase if there's any pressure. If there's none, that's great. You have a tight running engine (no blowby). If you were to get blowby, then you'd feel positive pressure.

Along "with" that positive pressure, comes oil mist. It'd be horrible for the emissions to just vent it out into the atmosphere, so into the intake it goes to get burned

We don't have PCV valves on Gen2's. It's just a vent straight from the valve cover to the intake plenum.

You wouldn't get much blow-by(if any) but as the oil heats up and is worked around, there may be some gases or oil vapours that can build up over time. It's vented through there - you shouldn't be able to feel anything if you put your finger on it.

It's no wonder it's just labeled "vent" in the diagram above. I was searching for positive crankcase vent, but the results turned up empty.

My concern arose from a settling of engine oil i saw accumulated in the intake hose at the section right before the throttle body. So i thought that it may have been stucked open or something.

I also thought that it might have contributed to my busted rear crank seal that went recently (although only God knows when last that was changed, if ever any at all).

So the oil in the intake hose, i'm sure that's not supposed to be there. I cleaned it once before to see if it would re appear, and it did. When i had pulled the hose from this "vent" on the valve cover and placed my finger there, it had some engine oil settled on it. if it's just a vent for the valve cover, then it would be normal that oil splashing around from the cams would get through it also.... right?

Oil vapor is normal inside the crankcase, and the vented air that gets sucked into the intake manifold will have some in it. The newer/tighter the motor is, the less there will be. The older and harder the motor is run, the more there will be (more blowby and pressure inside the engine).

It isn't normal to have oil in the intake hose on the 3s-fe, since the vent is after the throttle body, but oil in the hose between the valve cover and the throttle body/manifold is normal.

Do you park in such a way that it could seep back out of the throttle body or something?

I figured it wasn't normal.

I park on a leveled surface right beside my house.
