temp gauge sending unit

Ok I need some parts help here...

I have an 89 Camry 2.0L 3FSE engine. As I had previously posted the water temp gauge quit working. I had originally mistakenly replaced the temp sensor for the computer not the gauge sending unit. So I check with all the local auto parts stores, and even check online, but I can not find the type of sending unit that is installed in the intake housing.

Every place I check shows a single bladed post type unit. Like this.
http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Det...+50070+2070002

What I have installed has a grey single wire connector that plugs into the round unit. the unit has a small square recepticle with a very small flat pin inside. I will post a pic when I have a chance.

As I stated I have had no luck locating this. Thanks in advance.

I was hoping to find one elsewhere without going to toyota...parts tend to be more expensive through the dealer.

LOL... now we are getting to the bottom of things here.

The sensor on the water inlet to the thermostat is the radiator fan switch... it does not do anything with the gauge cluster.

You want the single wire sensor (or one of the single wire sensors, if you have an automatic) on the water outlet neck. It should be called the Water Temp Sender. It should be a gray spade-type connector according to the diagrams and the wire is yellow with a green stripe.

So we are getting closer.....but I have yet to find the elusive sending unit... the only single blade connector I have been able to locate is the oil pressure sensor. I have been all over the eng compartment and can't find it. I know it has got to be there, but the damn thing is hiding on me. I have done some searching on the net..and have read that it is on the drivers side and on the pass side...can someone out there help me narrow down the search some? Like some pics!

Its right here (on an auto Alltrac, at least):

Check for the right wire colors before you replace.

The two wire sensors are the water temp sensor and cold start injector time switch. The two VSV's (vacuum switching valves) are for EGR and Evap control. The other single wire sensor is for the transmission computer to lockout overdrive when the motor is cold.

the part# for the OEM is 83420-16020 and MSRP is $25.01. Not real expensive. I offer TN members 30% off MSRP plus actual shipping, etc. To Indianna, I can't see that being but $6-$7 bucks, and cheaper if I put it in the USPS mail. I do not over inflate shipping to make up for any discounts. The part you seek is not an expensive one or a very difficult one to replace.

I am a Toyota Dealer, and it would be a Genuine Toyota OEM part. But at least you have the part number and price.

If there is anything I can do for you, let me know. That includes answering questions, providing information, etc.

Sender -> for the gauge (single wire)
Sensor -> for the computer (two wire)

That's it. Which do you need?
