Just wanted to give a heads up. I've had many, many months of chasing the goblins trying to cure the intermittent no start issue on my 87 Camry. Embarassed to say how many things that I replaced, but included coil, fuel pump, plugs, wires, starter relay by-pass, etc.
Turns out there is a fairly large block of wires way up under the dash on the drivers side that have a large connector holding them together. We were running wire tests and looking at connections. When we bumped the connector it fell apart. Apparently the connector dries out, vibrates loose or something.
Plugged it back together and secured with a wrap of electrical tape. Now have excellent current and power to everything, and an excellent running Camry.
This might not be anybody elses issue, but I wanted to pass it along as another thing to check. If we found this first it would've saved a lot of cash & cursing.
