1st generation Camry suspension problems

Hello Toyota nation,

I have a 1985 toyota camry dlx and it has been reliable and well mannered except for one area. This car love to eat tie rod ends. I have owned the camry for little over two years now and this will be the third time I will have to replace the tie rod ends. I am not a suspension/steering expert but something funny is going on and I need some insight before I spend another $400 for a tie rod end repair only for the problem to return in 6 months to a year.

Please Advise,

Camry1stgen

Has it ever been in an accident? Some cases I've seen like that have been from previous accidents that have left the chassis of the car a little off. If not I would have somebody check all the bushings and make sure the alignment is as good as it can get..

Check the lower ball joints also. Wow $400 is an awful lot for tie rod ends. Did you have it done at the dealer ?
