Chrome Windshield Trim

So my efforts to find this have been nil in the junkyards around here and I was wondering if anyone has any ideas what to replace the windshield trim with.

I don't know if they make some sort of generic trim or not. I do know that I am going to have my windshield replaced sometime soon as it has a chip in it, but it also leaks into the cabin whenever there is a bad rainstorm.

Any thoughts or ideas on this would be great.

You should be able to find them new from toyota and most discount OEM retailers should stock the window trim but be ready to pay like $120-150 for just the front trim. I'm not aware of any generic or aftermarket trims that are out there for the Gen.2. I think your best bet is the wreckers or just brand new.

Hmm, might keep a look out for junkyards then.

Another question is if I really need that trim or if they have some sort of generic rubber gasket that seals up the gap around the windshield?

We replaced the trim on our 87 DX with brand new trim from the dealer as we were repainting the entire car 3 years ago. Looks great. Can't remember the cost, maybe $60.

That is a lot better than what some online places want for it ($50 a side, top, left side and right side = $150).

That might mean that when I get my windshield replaced the company will have something they can get. Mine leaks and I want to take it out and clear out any rust and paint it before they replace the windshield.

Correction. That was for the top piece of trim. We didn't need the sides.
