2nd Generation Try eBay

I've recently seen a motor on eBay from New jersey that was for sale with shipping for 700. You can find alot of these engines for sale that are imported from Japan and pulled from wrecked cars. this one had 3000 miles on it.

There's really not much you can really do with the Gen1. Mostly is just fix it up and it'll be a rock solid car. If you really want to do something that nobody has done, you could throw in a engine swap. I know someone here was going to do a 5SFE swap, but decided to scrap it. Thing is...it's not exactly cheap.

I know that the ST161 Celica (1986) GT and ST came with the 2S and the following year in 1987 it had the 3S. Most people in the Gen2 field throws in a 3S-GE or something to that flavor. Not sure if it possible with the Gen1 without serious modding.

If you put an better engine, it would be something different as I don't think I've seen anybody on this forums with a completed engine swap to a Gen1. If you got the Time and the money (along with the urge of trying something new), I'd say go for it.

I met someone at TORC who swapped in a 3SGE in a super clean 1G. I plan to 5SFE mine sometime in the future. (I want to swap my MR2 and take the 5S from it and put that in my 1G )
