89 Transmission acting up?

I've got an 89 Camry with auto trans that has been trouble free for years. The other day I left the house and drove about a mile down the road to the SS. Car wouldn't move from a stop, just revved. I found that if I put car into park, shut off and restarted engine that the car would move and shift properly for about another 30 seconds or so then the problem repeated itself. Any ideas? The fluid looks a bit dark but doesn't seem to smell to bad. I'll do a fluid change today while I wait on any ideas. Thanks in advance.

Well if the fluid changes doesn't help it is pretty safe to say your trans is on its way out.
