Yes for some cars. It is usually limited to RWD models, though some FWD, (ie BMW Mini Cooper), are the exceptions.

Thanks but.. RWD? I'm referring to US cars not the Celica Camry.

I've stumbled onto a cherry grandpa car('85 LE) with low miles that I intend to sell. I'm wondering if there is any enthusiast market for it before I sell it to some kid who'll stick a giant muffler on it.

Great car, but not a collectable. Too many were made and there really is nothing special about them. That's from a person who really likes the first generation Camrys. Every car that is old is not a classic; it's just an old car. Buy it and drive it. It'll be a good car for you or someone else.

I know Ironically the RWD Celica may become a collectible

Not really, as the previous poster stated.

I think I'll give it a whirl on e-bay and see what sort of response it gets. Here in Chicago anything this old well preserved is very unusual. A Toyota at this age given their propensity for rust and typical lack of care is even more rare.
I'm well aware that age or rarity don't necessarily equate to value but suspect there may be an appreciative soul out there. This is such a grandpa car it's almost cool.
If it's not forbidden I'll post a link to the sale when I do it. Meantime, I need to decide whether to invest in a new exhaust system for it. Decisions, decisions.
