Gen1 tranny

i have an auto tranny in my first gen and it tends to slip here and there. I got a new pan and gasket so it doesnt leak or anything. and theres fluid in it at its appropriate level. and besides it slipping, it doesnt really output the power that the engine is putting out.

was wonder why it slips? could the torque converter be going bad? just old?

or is this cat having something to do with it? --->

If it feels like it slips at take off and engages at higher engine speeds it may be the one way clutch for the torque converter stator.

If this is the case, it will kind of feel like the trans is starting out in second gear.

no, it goes through all of the gears. lets say im going from fourth and it downshifts to third, at higher rpm, it will slip a bit but at the same time, it doesnt seem to be going anywhere. it lags the output to the wheels, yet the throttle is pretty open
