What do you consider fast? What's your budget? How much custom work are you willing to do? Are you prepared to live with the lack of aftermarket support for the rest of the car? What's your final goal for the car?

I consider fast like 0-60 in 9 seconds or less fast lmao.and yes I'm willing to do all that but I don't want to change the car completely... And my budget rite now is about 3500 dollars. And I can deal with the lack of parts I know shops that I get insane discounts. And what's a b13 engine?? Or I think its called that...
I can do custom work and I can swap engines easy. My friend has is own shop so we could do anything. Swap engines, custom work anything. its that he usually does mustangs, cameros and stuff so we don't know any websites for parts...its 3000 for parts and engine... There's no labor fees or anything like that...
You have a number of options for engines... Pretty much anything that was used in a Camry up to 2002 or a Celica up to '99 will be pretty close to a bolt-in.
My suggestion will be a 3s-gte. I have not seen this done in a gen1 Camry yet, so I'm not sure if the mounts are fully compatible or anything. You will have to do your own research on this. Maybe go to the junkyards and compare cars in person (gen2 Camry, Celicas, etc.).
As for the auto-manual swap, you will need a donor car and move all the manual parts to your car. If you go with a powerful enough engine (as the 3s-gte is), you will have to choose the manual trans wisely too...

this build if you pull it off will be sick. you'll need custom axles made as well most likely. for 3500 on that car i'd just get the engine rebuilt and add nitrous. you're working with a muscle car shop they should know all about that.
