Busted Vents

Hey guys;

Does the dealer sell replacement vents ? I feel silly asking this. But i'm thinking the only other way is to replace the dash which would be too expensive for me, as we don't have "junkyards" here locally as you do in the U.S. Is there another way to repair them. Just hate how the dash looks without the vents.

I'm missing one entire vent assembly and one is broken at the sides that prevents it from swinging up (to the roof) or down (to the floor)

here's a pic of the missing vent.

I replaced ALL of mine for less than a couple dollars from a wrecking yard. The lady I got the car from had kids who used to play in the car, and apparently they felt a need to poke stuff into the vents and break them all. Very simple to get out... just used a very small flat head screwdriver. But I can only imagine how much they would cost from the dealer!

You got that right... I checked our dealer (Toyota Jamaica) and it's something like JMD20,000.00 ... or around USD230.00 ... I can't pay that for some vents...i'll check the junkyards

Holy Cow!!! In that case, I'll ship you one for $100 cash! LOL!

Seriously, a wrecking yard usually asks a buck or so for them (at least the 3 I've worked at over the years). You'll find one right away.

IMPORTANT!!! Just so you don't end up doing THIS be VERY careful when removing them. They break very easily on the clip/tabs that hold them in. Be sure to use a very small flat screw driver, not a regular sized one.

those small pocket-sized screwdrivers work best.

Oh, by the way, I envy you for living in Jamaica! Man, I'd give anything to be there for a vacation or something because I've been a HUGE reggae fan for over 25 years. Sorry, didn't want to get too far off topic. It's just every time I think of Jamaica I get all excited. I saw Burning Spear 3 times, Mon!

Good luck with that vent/register. It's a simple replacement.
