Trunk Lid Question

My Trunk Lid has none of that springy tension i see on other cars, when i use the lever inside the cabin to open it, from outside you wouldn't know if it did open until you actually go and lift it.

And when i do lift it, there's just nothing, it's free, if a strong breeze were to blow if you were looking for something, that lid would be coming right down into your mole (not good.)

Is it a part or something i have to replace to get back the original tension?

I can almost guarantee you do have springs in there. They just aren't as tensioned as other cars. They are torsion springs accross the top of the trunk that attach to the trunk arms. If they weren't there, the trunk lid would not stay open at all.

Yes, they are weaker than other cars, but that's just how it is. Be careful.

This is the way the trunk is on my 89 Camry also. Even when I open the trunck with the key the trunk lid just stays in the closed position. Very annoying. Anyone know the fix for this?

Yeah i do have those spring rods.

I could've swore i saw a thread in this section about twisting them to get back the tension or something like that.

I did a good search yesterday using keywords "trunk adjustment", "trunk" "trunk lid" etc. but couldn't find a thing.

anyone saw this topic?

Sometimes i have to whisk my son away from that area when it's open, for fear that it might shut on his fingers or he may very well climb up in there and it locks him in, God forbid .
