Separating Engine from Tranny 91 alltrac

I have all the bolts out and the engine moves about 1/4 inch very easily but hangs up at that point and it appears to be hanging up around the center of the flex plate/torque converter. I have removed all six bolts from the flex plate so that isn't the problem. My guess is that I have to get a little mean with it similar to those front axles but I thought I would check here first because this is my first engine pull and I don't want to break anything.

I assume you have all the transfer case mounts/stiffeners removed also? Is the flexplate separating from the torque converter at the same time the motor is separating from the trans?

Once you get the motor and trans separated by an inch or two, you need to rotate the motor to allow it to continue to move back from the trans.

Good luck. The more difficult task is putting it all back together.

Well I got it off. I didn't loosen a bolt that was holding the thin metal sheet that goes between the motor and tranny. There was too much crud in the way and I didn't see it.
