Understanding the tranny
i was talking to another local who owns a 3rd gen camry. and in the discussion it came up about the pwr, manu & econ feature that the tranny has.
he started to explain that with power it has more aggresive shifts and shift points are higher in the rpm... manu (manual) means you can shift through the gears manually ... and econ is where it shifts at lower rpm...
he went on to say that regardless of the mode it's in ... when the accelerator is floored .. the tranny shouldn't change until the rpm goes to redline! this was the shocker for me... cuz regardless of the mode, when i dump the gas pedal... it changes at the same rpm point as it would if i was at 1/4 or 3/4 throttle...
i'd like to know what would cause mine not to go to redline .. if it is a cheap fix, i'd tackle it... if not ... i was gonna go 5spd sometime next year God's willing ... so i wouldn't bother ...
can anyone shed some light please!!
