My car is 1989 camry wagon LE 6cyl 4/89 made Japan built 2.5 L 2vzfe engine with ac auto.
A mechanic said my car needs to replace front and rear shocks.
He can buy the parts for me or I can buy the parts myself.
I perfer to buy parts myself. He does labor.
I only know the shocks.

you can either get a set of KYB gr2 or monroe shocks they have at autozone. replace your strut mounts while you're at it. KYB makes those too.. get the part # from kyb's web site and see if you can get them cheaper locally or buy online

I have monroe on my 89 4cyl wagon and they work rather well. As stated get the strut mounting plates as well. Make dang sure he re-torques the struts once they have settled so that you don't run into problems later.

It isn't too hard to do it yourself if you buy a spring compression kit, a friend and I changed mine in about 3 hours but it might take longer if you don't have air tools.

So I have to buy 4 mounts F&R, 4 shocks F&R, 4 boots F&R and do I need to buy upper and lower insulators for each shock ?

If you need boots and insulators buy them, they are just rubber pieces that shouldn't be too worn out and I reused my old ones and it has been just fine.

You can't really tell but try not to get old stock. I got some old Monroe GT Gas shocks and they blew after a week because they were old. After replacing them, they've held up so far...

I suggest KYB if you don't mind spending the money.
