Now it is time to evaluate my work.
My mistakes:
- Tried to use dye leak test- this is not very effective method to find condenser leaks;
- Used PAG oil while planned to charge system with R12 after repair (had to take the system apart and blow out as much oil as possible)
- Did not use manifold with gages to evacuate and charge, thus introduced some air during withdrawal of the vacuum pump hose
- Possibly overfilled system with oil (now I know that compressor holds 1.5 oz (or 50 cu cm of oil)
Below: checking the service valves for leaks. One bubble in 3 minutes means 1/2 oz loss per year, if I remebering correctly. Leaking High side Schrader valve can be sealed off with 3/16 flare (3/8-24 thread)
