isn't the a540h AWD ? the 140E is FWD why would you want to do such a swap ? i mean in theory it should bolt up.. the V6 and I4 has different axle splines so you'd need new axles.... and then you have to figure out the wiring for the tran's control module. some one else should chime in with more info

Such a swap should, mechanically, be a direct bolt on. However, different axles will be in order. If you are going to make the swap, you may want to look for an A140L as this would avoid having to get a TCM for the 140e. The A140L would not need any thing other than a lock up solenoid to take care of.

What is wrong with the AWD trans?

Will you be swapping out the rear pumpkin for a beam?

That is about as much advice as i can offer in this matter lol

Goodluck

What car is it going into? (V6 or i4?) I'm a little unclear of exactly what you are trying to accomplish and why.

Both transmissions will bolt up to both motors, but I wouldn't want to go through the hassle of swapping them. There are many differenced between the transmissions that will require some parts mixing and matching, so it will probably be easier to just use the correct transmission for your car.

PS. Atobe is right - the A540H is the AWD auto transmission. The A540E is the V6 auto transmission (used in various forms up through '01 in the Camry or so...).
