It would be much better to use the actual fill hole on the front of the trans. A funnel with a hose on the bottom gets in there nicely. Fill until it starts coming out the fill hole (on a flat surface).
Also note that you should be using Dexron ATF for the 4-cylinder 5-speed trans unless you are having synchro or other problems with it. The 6-cylinder 5-speed uses normal gear oil.
