Where to mount GPS (gen 2)?

I currently have a Garmin 660 mounted on a suction mount inside the left side of the instrument cowl. It blocks the temp gauge but not the tach.

I want to put a permanent mount (I have the ball mount from Garmin) but can't see a good place to fabricate a mount for the ball. The ideal location is in front of the cruise control and emergency flasher buttons with a "L" shaped bracket of some kind down attached below. But I don't much like blocking those buttons.

Anyone have a good location where they've mounted their GPS?

Dave

I'm not planning on a GPS, but I have something similar size to mount in my Alltrac...

My idea: Use the bottom flat section under those buttons to attach a mount that goes sideways from there. It would put the screen directly to the right of the cruise and hazard buttons, sort of floating out in space.

the windshield won't work for ya? I originally mounted mine to the windshield on the far left by the door but since the average person (including me) steers with their left hand and controls everything else with their right hand (unless you're in England), mounting the GPS on the left was a pain. So I moved it to the center of the window, just over the center vents. I also saw some cool vent mounts for GPS units that are universal and mount to your actually vents. Pretty cool idea if you don't want everyone outside your vehicle to see your GPS.

Good luck. Hope you find the right spot.
