1989 Camry Auto. Shift Console Removal
Trying to replace the broken shift console (plastic) on my sons Camry. I have no trouble getting the large center console out (or at least out of the way). What a cannot do it get shift knob completely removed from the shifter as is it "held on" by the OD switch. I have removed the OD switch from the knob, but see no way to disconnect this to thread it through the inside of the shifter. Some have suggested unplugging it from the other end. Can do this, but the plug iteslf is too large to fit back up through the shifter. Am I just not seeing something or will these wires (2) need to be cut?
