87 camry speedo disconnect?

im doing the dreaded heater core replacement on a friends 87 camry
(because he once saved my life, and i figure this will bring it back to where
he's in MY debt!) im pretty much out of new curse phrases, but am at
the point of finally getting the dash out. only thing holding me back is the
speedo cable connector. for the life of me, i cant get it to come out, and
my head is too big to stick in there and see whats up.
any help in this area?

Its a slide on clip style. Its going to slide off. generally in an upward direction. good luck.

Are you sure you need to take the upper dash out for a heater core replacement?

Otherwise, I don't remember having any trouble removing the speedo cable from the upper dash...

man i honestly have no idea if i was supposed to go that far or not!
so far this is a PITA operation and i still dont understand the whole of it
but the speedo tip was correct (thanks man, it was just stuborn and i was
afraid of breaking it!)

i just finished draining the rad. fluid, and am about to jump into the white
box to actually replace the heater core.

looking at things, i am not sure i havent gone WAY overboard getting to this thing!
