Replacing struts, mounts, what else should I replace?

I am working on my 1990 camry, I just ordered 4 new struts, it has 250k miles, should I also replace the strut mounts, strut bellow? Is there anything else I should replace like the stabilizer bar link or anything while I am in there? I just put new rotors/brake pads, inner tie rod and outter tie rod ends on it.

Sounds pretty good to me. Maybe control arm bushings....?? Or wheel bearings. Did you get a good deal on the struts? I noticed that several auto parts stores were running buy 3/ get the 4th free during Oct.

I agree with tatohead.

Hey, do either of you recall which company makes BLUE struts and shocks? I ask this because I discovered mine were GAS, which shows they have been replaced and they are blue. Wasn't that Monroe? Or were Monroe white? Maybe Gabriel?

I'm just curious. I couldn't find the brand name on them. I think it's up too high.

I just got them from rock auto, 48 a piece for the Monroe sensastrut (the black ones, not the economy blue ones) with a 5% off coupon. Didn't see any buy 3 get 1 free.
Are you recommending that I do replace the stabilizer bar link on the rear and the strut bellows and mounts on all 4?

No need to replace the stabilizer bar link unless you have to cut it off to get the new struts on there.

Strut mounts and bellows are a good idea, as they are probably both worn out by now.

Also, you can just cut the tab open that holds the brake line in place instead of removing the brake line from the caliper to make the whole job easier.

My rear lines are a bit rusty, I don't want to touch them, will that work in the rear 2 or must I disconnect the rear brake lines?

Dude I would replace your brake lines while your in there. Might as well there is a good chance that your brake lines are cracked if they are rusty and old.

Charlie is right you can cut the tab that holds the brake lines if you don't want to take them off.

Sean,
You have economy monroe struts get on either napa auto or advance autoparts and you can find them.

Do you have a link for a how-to? I have no idea how to replace them, I think I can buy some tube/pipe at an auto parts store

Well search around there are various threads about struts. The fronts one are easy to get to the rear ones are a PITA! you have to remove the back seats and deck to get to the struts. The hanyes manul goes over it although not very accurate it wants you to remove waaaay to much stuff to just change out a strut. Look to spend about an hour per wheel well if you have never done it before and if you plan on removing the brake lines have a buddy so you can bleed out your brake system. Before you get started take a look at your calipers and your bleeder screws if they are worn go ahead and replace them as well. Save yourself one more trip to the auto part store. All Data goes over it pretty well too.

Good luck buddy.

Ahhh ok so you want to change out the steel lines feeding from the master cylinder. This is a weee bit more difficult. You going ot have to follow the lines and see how they are attached. You can get the lines at your dealer or autozone. If you can jack-up the car and stabilize it get under the car and follow the lines. to see if there are junction points to see if it one continuous line or coupled together. Replace as necessary.
