no powere when you turn the key

after a week of searching the forums I am finally posting. My 1990 Camry dx is getting no power when you turn the key. I was able to get the door light to come on after replacing a fuse. I used a power probe to confirm the fuse is bad. I still have no radio, door locks no power to interior. main fuse is good since the other fuses in the engine bay work. Seems like one giant fuse controls these. Any ideas? There is also a square relay under the hood. Is that the one I need to change? Here is the weird part, when you turn the key as if to start, you get power on the charge fuse. That makes me think nothing is wrong with the ign switch. Thanks

yes no power there either. There is a component that must get power before those fuses get power. I used my power probe to start the car but still no radio dash lights etc.
keep them coming. Thanks

already done that and they don't need to be reset because they can't be pushed down anymore. I rechecked the fuses and to my surprise the alt 80amp one was blown this must have just happened when I jumped the starter. I checked this at least 5 times and it was fine. Took a screw driver and pried the two little pieces together and now I get all dash power back. I say this car has some kind of cancer in the wiring. wha la it stopped working again I will go to auto zone to get another and see.

Check your wires going from the positive terminal. Sounds like you might have a broken wire in there somewhere.

there is a wire that plugs in to the top of the starter. i found that over time with the heat the plug plastic gets brittle and does not hold on as well as it should. i had to run a new wire from there to the ignition switch and that resolved the issue. up side is yo can disconnect it to keep some one else from driving it like a room mate who knows where you keep your spare key. hahahaha

What do all the broken parts have in common? The ignition switch. So my guess as to what the most worn component needing to be replaced is, the ignition switch -
