1990 camry stalls when put in gear...PLease help
Hello i just recently purchased a 1990 Toyota Camry that has just over 190,000 miles on it. All of the maintenance looks to have been kept up because the previous owner had all of the receipts for the work performed since 1990. It ran fine for a few days then it started to run a little rough. A friend looked at the car for me and pulled the spark plug wires, one at a time, to make sure that all of the cylinders were running. After he checked them the car ran the same while driving but when i would come to stop at a red light the car would act like it wanted to shut off unless you put it in neutral. when i got it home the idle was smooth in park, but when i put the car in gear the rpm's would drop causing the car to stall. What would cause the car to stall when it is put in drive or reverse? When i drive down the road it is fine. It only acts like it wants to stall or it does stall when i am at a stop or not giving it any gas. Any help would be great Thanks in advance.
