91 Camry Alarm Issues

I have been having issues with this stupid alarm. First the remotes weren't working right so I bought some replacements and tried to program them and they wouldn't program (I followed the instructions) Then when I went to the store the other night the alarm went off while I was in the car, I got it turned off then started the engine and the alarm beep like it set itself but the little light stayed on the whole time on my way home (its supposed to turn off when the alarm is turned off) . Now the alarm light wont turn off and when I try to set the alarm it doesnt turn on. Im so frustrated, can anyone help me out?

First, what kind of alarm is it? Who installed it? How old is it?

It sounds like you somehow put the alarm in valet mode, and you will have to figure out how to get it out of valet mode...

I agree with Charlie, and yes it would help to know the brand and even the model number of the alarm. Also, it must be a VERY expensive top-of-the-line alarm in order to make buying replacement remotes worth the cost! You can buy a brand new, sweet alarm for less than most replacement remotes. If you can tell me the brand and model I can probably figure this out for you.

Oh. It's most likely mounted up under the dash and if you can find it, the brand and model numbers will be on the top of the box. Also, the brand might be on the siren.

How did you buy a replacement remote without knowing what model alarm it is?

Anyway, you probably need to have the key in the 'on' position and press either the arm/lock button or the unlock/disarm button to get the alarm out of valet mode. Alternatively, if there is a valet switch, you can probably just press that.
