Axle Bearings

Do any of you have experience in putting the ball bearings back into the front axle? They somehow dropped out on the left side. Thanks.

If you are talking about the balls in the CV joint, you need more than just putting them back in. It sounds like tour CV joint is toast.

If its the half shaft, its a fairly simple job.

less than $100 in parts & a few hours.

We ended up installing a new one. Is the axle impossible to fix or something?

If its the type of joint (rzeppa) I'm thinking of, theres a inner race within the joint that pivots and the ball bearings fit into it.

To get the balls back in, you have to move the inner race around, and try to pop the balls back in. A brass drift may help.

Its not impossible, but you have to factor in time and the cost of the parts.

Replacing the entire axle is easier.
