Hello all. I have a 1990 Toyota Camry LE with the 2.5L V6 engine and I just wanted to say, what an amazing long distance car. I've owned "Connie" for the last two years and I just bought a house in Houston and drove her 1700 miles from New York to Houston about a week and a half ago and she did a fantastic job!
Everyone thought I was crazy for driving a 21 year old car that far, but she did great. To date, she has 112500 miles on the original drive train. Oil and tranny fluid changes on the regular, brakes, timing belt, ac belt, power steering belt, radiator, tires etc..you name it!
Yep, thats pretty crazy, but I understand.
I drove my '95 Tacoma 4x4 from Arkansas to Saltlake City, Utah in the winter to go skiing at Snowbird and I already had 202K miles on the truck. Not one problem and still going at 341K.
Glad you made it safe and sound without incident.

Go GEN 2 CAMRY's!!!!
Only 112500? Get some miles on that thing! Our factory engine didn't go out until 230k and that's because my sister never did the oil!

HAHA Thanks! Well I bought it with 86,204 a little over two years ago and put 26,000+ in the past 2 so I've been driving it pretty regularly.
The owner before me only used it on weekend trips and the previous owner to them was an old couple who hardly drove it.
Now I have my own driveway and garage and can do the work myself. Changed the oil immediately upon arrival to Texas because my average speed was 74 miles an hour :-P
Bought mine with 140k and drove from Los Angeles to Kingman AZ every week about 1,000 miles a week and 5 hour drive each way; even during summer in 115 degree heat at 80-90mph. Did that for a year. Now has 207k but driven in Hawaii now. Was getting about 33mpg but when slowed way down to 60mpg just barely touched 40mpg.
I've done California to West Virginia in an '04 Silverado... I was far more concerned about it breaking down than I've ever been with either of the Camrys.
