91 camry intermidiate starting problem

my 91 camry 4 cylinder sometimes wont start. its happens may be like 3 times a month. its like when you try to start no current get to the starter but it will start with a jump start. so checked out the battery it came out good and i decided to replace the starter.

today it happen the same thing with the new starter. lights turned on bright and the horn had a good powerful sound. jump started it and it started right up, i decided to turn off the engine, remove the jumper cables and starting it, it restarted without no problem.

i dont know what the heck is wrong, battery is good, starter is good, and it wont start sometimes. extra power from the jump start triggers a switch and its good. let me know any of you guys know whats going on. thank you

Might be the cables... Have you replaced the battery clips yet? Sometimes they corrode and you won't get enough power even out of a good battery to start the car.

Mine did this too, but it was the neutral safety switch. Never tried a jump so I don't know if it would have worked but I highly doubt it.

I also had starter problems in my beast. It was spuratic, and it would click only.. When I popped the hood I coule hear a clicking at the relay box I don't know why..It has a security system with a little toggle switch (factory, aftermarket I dont know) but a little box is ziptied to a wiring harness under the dash. I reached up in there and felt the plug was partally out of the bottom of the security box, replug and play was my answer.. Oh yeah this was after I replaced the starter contacts (thanks to this site, $5 later the starter was ruled out) with no luck..
