25yr old Transmission fluid

I have a 1985 Toyota Camry LE and I've noticed most everything is 25yrs old.I wasn't getting good heat, took out the old one and yup,it was original and looked it(you could probably make 3 thermostats from the metal in the old one)I looked at the transmission fluid,it looks red,but I get a little slippage when shifting sometimes. It has 72,000 original miles.Do you think the fluid is just plain worn out? I can imagine the fluid filter is 25 yrs old too.

How long have you owned the car, do you know it's history ?

At 75,000 mi it may be possible for the tranny fluid to remain red, but I would not risk it. For less than $40 bucks including a trip to Wally-world
I would change out filter & fluid to be safe

I've owned it since Nov. 2010,Original owner developed Cancer and didn't drive it for 4 years.Grandson drove it as a work/commuter car to boston and back for 6mos and it shows. He was doing construction and using the car as a Carpool.
