Power Issues With 1989 3S-FE Toyota Camry

Hey everyone, I am requesting help with diagnosing this issue. My car has suffered from a severe decrease in power to the point where it can hardly drive up a slight hill without some speed. It all started when one of my axles began giving out while I was driving it up a hill. The car suddenly pulled to the right going at 45 mph. Now the right axle it clicks very loudly when I am turning. There's more to it though. For a while before that till now, most of the time I have to use the shift-lock override to get the car into - though sometimes it works normally.
Is this enough info to diagnose my situation?

Check your CV joints. see if there's any torn boot. If not, it still might be a possibility that the joint itself my fail.

Is this your I4 or V6 camry? Also, what is the milage on the car?

As for the issue with the shifting, the shift override is used if you can't get the car out of gear and the interlockings of the gear fails. Not sure how to fix this, though.

I think the joints have already failed and it is time to replace them. I was wondering if the problems I listed could have some kind of effect on the amount of power that the car engine could put to the wheels. Btw, this is a 4 cylinder with a bit over 160,000 hill miles on it.
