2nd Generation Aftermarket Seat Belts

I have a 1991 Camry DX. The front seat belts do not move forward or retract. I don't really want to get into all the wiring problems that may be happening. I just would like to know if anyone has installed the 3-point aftermarket ones and if it was a fairly simple project.

I saw some online - I think it was carparts.com

Thanks for your help/ideas.

Wouldn't it just be easier to get belts from a salvage yard car?

My seat belts are OK. I thoought about that but I would still have to deal with the wiring problem that is causing them to fail now. From searching this forum it looks like there are several possible issues; limit switches, actuator and/or wiring shorts/breaks.

I thought it would be better and easier to install new seatbelts like this.

Yes I did. It is a very good write up. However it is winter and I don't want to get into the wiring and all the troubleshooting now. Since the aftermarket seat belts are fairly inexpensive I thought someone may have done it before and could let me know if it works.

It may not be helpful, but a friend has those exact ones installed in a Yota 91 pick-up 4x4 and he likes them and they've been working for a couple of years.

I can tell you that I have the ones from seatbeltplanet.com in a Yota 92 pick-up 4x4 and have been working great for a year or so.

I have a 90 camry and THINK they would work in it. Below is a diagram from seatbelt planet, go check the anchor points in the camry and if it like the diagram then it should work fine. If you go to the site, you can enlarge the image for a bigger clear view of the diagram. Also, look at the different anchoring systems they sell so you get one that will work in the camry. The pick-ups don't need it.

Hope it helps you out.

Thanks a lot Grego 92 for that response. The site looks like a great palce to get seat belts. I'll have to see how mine attach and might have to make adjustments - but that is OK.
