Found a disconnected/broken hose can't figure out where it goes

I just changed my oil pan gasket and saw a hose that appears to be either cut/broken/or disconnected up above the center beam cross member. It comes from the bottom of what appears to be a fuel cannister that is located directly below the master brake reservoir. There are two hoses at the top of the cannister and one from the bottom...it's the bottom one. It comes out of the cannister about four inches then a hose clamp attaches a hose to that after a 180 degree bend or so and then that hose is cut/disconnected or broke about a foot out from that. I can't for the life of me figure out what that hose does/goes to. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe just a vent? I have a similar hose that plugs into the a crossmember for whatever reason, I think it's just protection for the vent...
