88 Camry Brake Booster Question - Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums

Hello,
I have an 88 Camry 4 cyl Auto with 180,000 miles.
The problem I have is that the brake booster keeps making a sound like it is powering up. I have replaced the Booster 3 times and the master cylinder twice. I have also replaced the lines and the valve that runs from the throttle body to the booster and still have the noise happening.

I did read somewhere that there should be a gasket between the master cylinder and the booster. I noticed that I do not have one. Could this be the problem?

What do you mean by "making a sound like it is powering up?"

It is hard to describe in words but I can make the sound

It kind of sounds like a rubber diaphragm is vibrating.
Kind of a Whooooooom sound that rises in pitch and then ends abruptly.
