Gen1 What kind of hose is this?

Hey Everyone,

So I noticed a rather decent size dropplet of liquad under my car today when I was reversing. I decided to look when I got back home on what could be leaking. I popped the hood and found this hose to be leaking...more like dripping.

Engine shot with papertowels...

See that nasty wet looking rusted ended clip hose?

It goes into this little switch thing as another hose from there goes into the firewall

The hose appears to be a coolant line coming from the firewall (or going to...i dunno). Either way, it is leaking. Is this a TOYOTA only hose or is it a standard coolant line hose I can just pick up from any auto part store; cut and fit as necessary?

Also, since I'm in that same area, anybody knows what that little backet that is attached to the engine is?

And this thing here.

It's has all kind of corrosion on it and turning...blue. Is this some kind of coolant sensor?

Thanks folks!

Heater hoses. Old ones.

Sometimes you can get away with using bulk hose. Sometimes the formed ones are easier.

That's valve to engine. Hoses that have sharp bends are best to be designed for the application.

the sensor covered with green corrosion looks like overdrive delay switch for a/t(A140L) It prevents going to overdrive until the coolant is warm.

any universal coolant hose would work for that application and just cut and use some new hoseclamps...stainless is preferred haha

...i would also recommend a steam clean of ur engine bay, it will help a lot with the dirt and grease buildup so that its easier to work down there and easier to identify parts and such. theyre only about 100 to get done.

Thanks everyone,

Going to go and take that hose to a part store so they can try cut me a length. I gotta one day just try find all these hoses and replace them. Just worried because at lease half the hoses here seemed to be formed hoses. The dealer would mostly like have them...but it's an arm and a leg for a short hose (or anything for that matter).

I'll try clean around that sensor area. Lokos freaking nasty hahaa

I'd love to degrease the engine, but with the engine and all the connectors being old...I'd have a feeling I'd cause more problems. I'd love to do it...maybe when the engine goes in for a rebuild hahaa.

Just got the hose replaced. Came out to like $2.39

Note to self : Next time when replacing that hose...or any heater hose, BE SURE TO HAVE A BUCKET OR CONTAINER under the hose where it meets that valve. lol...so much coolant came out and i used a rag to plug it up until I replaced it
