Hi,
I bought a 1990 Camry a few months ago and ended up having to change out the head gasket. I bought a head from a refurbishing company and ran into a bit of a twist. The head is not quite the same. I know I need to contact the seller, but it's the weekend and they're not open and I just want to get an idea of what I do have. Hopefully I can get these pictures to load up.
the picture below is of the old head. Notice the depth of the injector holes. They are only about 10mm deep.
Notice how deep the injector holes are in the next photo. They are also about 1mm too large in diameter. There is also a vent hole, or somthing like that running through the head casting and tying the injector holes together. You can see it at the top of the injector hole.
There is also a hose barb that seems to be for PCV because it is connected to the oil drain passage and is shielded from splatter. Not worried about that. Just figured it help in identification.
Everything else fits fine and the casting looks almost identical except for these differences. It was advertised as the head for a 1990 3sfe, but is there a possibility that what I got was from a California car? If so can I get new injectors that fit and if so will they fit up to the fuel rail?
Here are some side views to help anyone in the know who might be able to identify this head.
Like I said, I'll be calling the seller back, but I'd like to have my guns loaded so I don't sound like a dumb-arse.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again.
Russ
