Adjust camber?

Hey all,

Ever since i installed new springs(OE height) and struts some time mid 2010, i'd had positive camber on my front left wheel(AU passenger/US driver side) only. The tread pattern on the outer shoulder is almost completely worn now.

Is there a way for me to adjust the camber? I took it to a mech for a wheel alignment but the guy seemed a bit lazy seeing our cars are old and i'm afraid that's the mentality of most mechanics around me these days.

I just had my 1990 Camry front end aligned (2/28/2011) by one of the best shops in my area. I had just replaced my struts, strut mounting plates, ball joints, tie-rod ends, & both CV axles.

I asked that they check my camber, the Tech told me he did what he could but that given the way Toyota built these cars there was minimum camber adjustment at best to be had. One tip he told me was to keep an eye on the top strut mounting nuts. They sometimes need a break-in period, and you need to go back re-tighten them.

Question;
When you replaced your struts did you inspect the mounting plates for slop/looseness ?

I went over the top strut mounting bolts after a few weeks, didn't change much.

By top mounting plate, do you mean the upper plate with the bearing that the strut goes into? I think so, it seemed alright.

I've searched some old threads and there's something about an eccentric bolt or cam that can adjust camber? Where's this?

only way to adjust a bit of camber on these cars is to losen the bolt on the lower strut mount. once they are both loose you should be able to turn the top bolt and adjust camber slightly that way.
