Question Seatbelts please

My driver side seatbelt worked last year, and when i received the car (it was my gfs) it was stuck in the forward postion.

the passanger one works but now is starting to work on and off.

i know there is a writeup on how to do so. but its confusing as im not familiar at all with wiring and electrical.
ive checked my fuses. except the ones that seem to be sodered in place.

where can i start? i heard something about wires getting stuck in the trunk. but i do not see any smashed or in the way even.

id like to get a harness and run it through the holes in the headrest. but ive heard its not good for dd among other things. but i need seatbelts of course.

it doesn't run to the trunk that's for taillights or something else. why would they put wire for seatbelts in the trunk area ?... the ones you're concerned about is in the pillar where the 2 doors meet. there's a plastic panel there you can take it off and manual spin it and see if it's locked up anywhere. you're going to have to figure out if it's the motor/sensor/wire problem

Until you have a chance to figure out what is going wrong, you will want to lock the belts in the 'back' position. Pop the small panel off the b-pillar near the bottom, unplug the motor and roll the seatbelt back to the end of the track. You can at least drive around safely that way (as long as you put it in front of you when you get in, of course...).

Find the write-up on the seatbelts by Dr. J (in the stickies at the top) and read it. We can help answer specific questions from there.

The seatbelts use the same fuse as the reverse lights. When the reverse light wire gets caught in the left trunk lid hinge and cuts or shortens it, it will blow the fuse (located next to your left foot). The car will back up just fine, since only the reverse light wire gets cut. But your seatbelt will stuck in the forward position.

So yes, there is a connection between your trunk and the seatbelts..... and the electrical schematics don't show the connection.

The seat belts are protected by circuit breaker which is tripped if beltmotor is getting stuck, however in this case the fuses are not likely the problem as passenger belt still works.
With ignition off, open the motor cover and spin the wheel to move a seat belt in the middle position. with the door open then CLOSE the door and turn the ignition on; if belt fanstens, the brushes in the motor may be worn out. if belt does not move but moves forward as you open the door, the harness from door to the body may have broken wire.

Very simply put. i like that. thank you. i will give it a shot tomrw.
i figured it wasnt a fuse because my tail lights work fine and my white reverse lights also. except one sides brighter than the other which is annoying but both bulbs are new.

but doc j. do i remove the top pillar cover or does the bottom one come off as well?

For Dr. J's first test, you are looking for a 2"x3" or so door near the bottom of the b-pillar.

2nd Generation seatbelt diagnosis

There is a connector behind the trim between the doors. When you put voltage to the motor and it runs change polarity and run in other direction. If this works your motor is good. If no motor action it may be your limit switces. I have a set of switches if anyone needs them. Comes with complete track and wiring harness. If you need a motor, you may be able to find one on ebay as I did. They may also be available @ Auto parts stores.

its hard to see in there with the seats. but the black ridged thing.
on the driver side was stuck but ended up twisting nice and smooth, moving the belt along the track.
