88 Camry Lost Power

When I step on gas pedal engine sounds like it's floating/sputtering. Drained out gas and changed fuel filter what else could it be?

How long has it been since you did any ignition system maintenance? Has it recently been wet, or have you cleaned your engine or driven through a puddle?

You probably have a cracked ignition coil. It is located inside the distributor housing and is known to crack and short internally, causing the problems you describe. If you haven't recently replaced your spark plugs, wires/cap and rotor, those could also be an issue. Use factory ignition components whenever possible - they are MUCH better than anything aftermarket (yes, really).

Thankyou so much for your reply. We did an extensive tuneup "BAD PLUGS" and still no difference. So we drained out the gas and changed the fuel filter an put some Texaco gas in it and it's back and purring!!! Lot's of power again. Thanks for your help Charlie!!! CatLes
