Putting a twin cam motor in 89 camry

Just wondering if i need to change wiring loom etc i pulled out my single cam engine out my 89 camry and want to put a twin cam camry engine in any info would be great

yours didnt have DOHC?

No just a single cam where the exhaust inlet and the carby/fuel thing both connect to the back of the motor

Ahh... good times.

The motor will probably fit just fine (though you might have to change the trans too).

You would need a donor car to reasonably get all the parts (motor, wiring harness, sensors, etc.). Check out Toymods, as there are probably more guys on there that have experience with the gen2 carb'd motors. We only got the EFI 3s-fe and 2vz-fe motors here in North America.

If it's anything like swapping a 4A-GE into a Corolla with a 4A-F(carby), it'll be a huge dick. My mate did that and yes, the wiring loom has to come over from an entire donor car. The wiring affects the entire lighting system car i.e. brake, rear lights, indicators e.t.c.

You're much better off getting another Gen 2 if you like them that much. They're pretty cheap.
